44. The eastward side of Justy Xo. 1 will be provided

with a quay 1,400 feet in length, having a depth of water

of 37 feet below Eông Keng Ordnance Datum (1.«. low water

ordinary spring tides) or 36 feet below extreme low water

level. This depth, for the reasons sårendy given, will in

our opinion be mply sufficient for all purposes.

45.

Jetty Ho. 2 will be provided on its western

side with a deep water quay 1,200 feet in length, and en

its eastern side with a quay for junks of the same length.

The ship basin provided between the deep water quays of the

Jetties Nos. 1 and 2 will be dredged to a depth the same

as that alongside the quaya, via: 38 feet below extreme

low water level. This dredging will be continued seaward

until it reaches the 36 feet contour line as shown on the

Drawings.

In order to retain the filling of the reclamation

the quay wall of the Junk Basin on the east side of Jetty

No. 2 will be returned at its inner and as shewn for a

length of 143 feet, forming the width of the basin. It

will be notised that, at the inner end of each of the above

Junk Basins a slight amount of dredging will be necessary

in order to give the required depth. From the eastern side

of the Junk Basin adjoining Jetty Re. 2 and extending

nertiward in a direction parallel with that Jetty a rubble

mound will require to be tipped to retain and form the

eastern boundary of the reclamation coloured red, pending

the carrying out of the portion seloured yellow.

47. This complates the description of the general.

lay-out of the works which we recommend should be carried

out as the first instalment of the complete scheme. This
